ABSTRACT<br> The basic facts about classical partitions, their generating function as well as Ferrers diagram representation will first be reviewed. Then we will discuss the celebrated Ramanujan congruences on the partition function: <br> p(5n+4)=0 (mod 5) <br> p(7n+5)=0 (mod 7) <br> p(11n+6)=0(mod 11). <br> The new developments of the demonstrations of these three Ramanujan congruences will also be briefly schetched.<br>
