One of the most important quantum algebras is <br /> the algebra of quantum matrices. A long term aim <br /> is to understand thoroughly the prime ideals and primitive <br /> ideals of this algebra. The talk will survey some <br /> of the methods that have been developed to study <br /> these ideals and will give a sample of the results <br /> which have been obtained recently.
