Counting Generalized Diagonals for Right-Angled Billiards

We start with the simple (to state) problem on counting special trajectories for billiards in polygons whose angles are multiples of right angles. From here, we go on a journey that involves ergodic theory, algebraic geometry, and enumerative combinatorics. Joint work with A. Eskin and A. Zorich.
